Gerald F. Schnell of Oshkosh died July 29, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Oshkosh to Harry Schnell and Marie Ludwig on November 28, 1927. On May 17, 1952 he married Betty Johnson. Gerald worked as an electrical contractor in Oshkosh. He was a veteran who served in the Merchant Marines. Gerald gave his time volunteering with many organizations and helping others who often called for Mr. Fix it. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, and spending time with friends, family and grand dogs. Upon retiring he and Betty traveled in their motor home over most of the United States. Gerald is survived by his wife, Betty; children: Robert (Debra) Schnell; Robyn (Wendy) Schnell; Roxanne(Stephen) Loker and Tina (Bob) Nelson; grandchildren: Charlie Schnell; Kristen Schnell; Megan Loker; Karly Nelson; Kelsey Nelson; and Nick Schnell; half-brothers: Eugene Ludwig; Richard Ludwig; Kenneth Ludwig; and Roger Ludwig; sister-in-law Janet Clark; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Wally Clark.Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; half-brother, Donald Ludwig; and granddaughter, Kamille Nelson.Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. when a memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5, 2005 at St Johns. Evangelical Lutheran Church (808 N. Main in Oshkosh). In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in Geralds honor toward cancer research.
