Gerald G. Phillips, Oshkosh, WI, entered the Gates of Heaven Friday, May 19, 2017, following a courageous battle against cancer. He was born on December 23, 1931, in Oshkosh, to the late Hazel and Gilbert Phillips. In his early years he attended Brick School, a one room school house in Oshkosh. Upon graduating from Oshkosh High School in 1950 he began working at Buckstaff Co. He attended youth group at First Baptist Temple Church where he met and married his sweetheart Elsie Johnson who preceded him in death. Together they had four wonderful children. Jerry grew up on the Phillips Family Farm and continued farming the land throughout the rest of his life.
He worked 36 years for Wisconsin Public Service as a Lineman and Gas Service Rep.
Jerry loved hard work, but always dropped everything at any time to help a friend in need. Through the years he hired many young kids to work on the farm and taught them that hard work can be fun. He was a Youth Leader, Deacon, Treasurer, and bus driver for his church. His heart’s desire was always to honor his Lord and Savior in everything he said and did. He took time to read his Bible daily.
He leaves behind his wife, of 27 years, Brittney: their eight children and step-children:
Dan Phillips, Oshkosh, Chuck Phillips, Oshkosh, Sue (Jim) McConnell Ripon, WI,
Mark Phillips, New Hope, MN, Angel (Sam) Holbrook, Ogdensburg, WI, Chaz (Lori) Burton, Orlando, FL, Dustin Burton, Wrightstown, WI and Brent (Jacklyn)Spanbauer, Oshkosh;

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Elsie, brother-in-law, Leonard Wegner, and mother and father in-law, Tom and Arlene Rogers.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, at Wyldewood Baptist Church, 3030 Witzel Ave, Oshkosh WI 54904; with Pastor Jason Brenenstuhl officiating and Historical Tribute to Jerry, by Pastor Randall King. A special thank you to Dr. Gremminger of Oncology, and the Heartland Hospice Team for their amazing care they gave Jerry and family.
Dear Co-Workers, Neighbors, Friends, and Loved Ones,
My greatest wish is that I would have told more of you about Jesus Christ and why He went to the cross. He went to the cross to die for you, and shed His innocent blood to cover your sins and wash them away so that you can enter heaven. My prayer is that today you will choose to believe it, so that you too will go to heaven.
I long to see you there!
Love, Jerry
