Gerald J. Hintze, 74, of Oshkosh died Monday February 2, 2009 at his residence after a five month courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was born August 10, 1934 in Oshkosh a son of the late Walter and Cecelia Hintze. Jerry married Carol Rose Schmidt on October 26, 1963 in Oshkosh. Jerry was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and was a U. S. Army and National Guard veteran. In his early years he worked at Paine Lumber Co. later he was sales manager at Lee Beverage for many years retiring in 1996. Jerry was a member of the Elks Club BPOE #292 for 25 years. His most enjoyable activities were the Tea Dance and the annual Chicken BBQ. He was a trustee for eight years and was Elk of the Year four times. He enjoyed time with family and friends whether it be the Tigers who have been getting together for over 50 years or at family reunions or Friday night at the Elks. He was an avid sports fan enjoying watching all sports especially the Packers, Badgers, and of course the Cubs. Jerry also enjoyed attending his grandsons sporting activities. He now has the best seat in the house for all of the games. He is survived by his wife Carol Rose Hintze; two daughters Paula Hintze and Peggy (Chris) Brouch; two grandsons Dillon Christopher and Ryan Gerald Brouch; four sisters Eileen Bronson, Joanne Schlichting, Judy (Jim) Wollangk, and Sue Ludwig; four brothers Eugene (Joyce) Hintze, Neil Hintze, Keith Hintze, and Dennis Hintze; a sister-in-law Mary Hintze; two brothers-in-law Dennis Mattison and Darrel (Marilyn) Schmidt; and many nieces, nephews, and great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Clarence and Viola Schmidt, brother Milton Hintze, sister Glorianne Mattison, in-laws Milo Buzz and Deanna Schmidt, Carol Hintze, Ruth Hintze, Walter Hansen, Jim Bronson, Richard Ludwig, Gabe Schlichting, and Rita Hintze. Services for Jerry will be held Thursday February 5, 2009 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, an Elks service will be said at 5:00 PM and will be followed by a funeral service officiated by Rev. Tim Greenwald. Visitation will be held Thursday at the Lake Pointe Dr. funeral home from 2 PM until the services. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Jerrys memory. A special thank you goes to Affinity Visiting Nurses, the social workers, nurses, and CNAs, who provided our entire family with all the care, compassion, and support we needed.
