Gerald Roger Hopka

Gerald “Jerry” R. Hopka, age 76 of Oshkosh, passed away on May 26, 2017 at Bethel Home. He was born on November 14, 1940 the son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Bonsak) Hopka. Jerry was united in marriage to Betty Spielvogel and their marriage was blessed with one son. Jerry worked in construction in his earlier years and then at Oshkosh Truck for over 30 years. Jerry later remarried to Dorothy Staerkel and she preceded him in death. Jerry always enjoyed working on mechanical things like cars and trucks in his spare time.
Jerry is survived by one son, Dale Hopka, two step-sons: Troy and Trent Staerkel; one step-daughter, Kim Strong, two grandchildren: Kory Hopka and Kyle (Andrea) Hopka, three great-grandchildren: Noelle, Lucie and Jase Hopka; and one sister, Marcella Rohn. He is preceded in death by his parents, and step-son, Doug Strong.
Funeral Service will take place at 11:30 am on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd. Friends and family may visit at the Cemetery from 9:30 am until the time of service. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
