Gerald F. Schlenske, 87 of Menasha (formerly of Oshkosh), died Saturday May 30, 2009 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. He was born in Eldorado on February 25, 1922 son of Vincent B. and Anastasia Kennedy Schlenske. On May 8, 1943 he married Leila Wustrack in Waupun. She preceded him in death on June 11, 1994. On January 19, 1997 he married Dorothy Orzechowski in Menasha.Gerald was a firefighter in Oshkosh for 32 years. He was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish. He had a band called the Esquire Trio for many years; was a pilot and member of the E.A.A.; and had been a member of the Lakeshore Kiwanis in Oshkosh. He had served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.Gerald is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schlenske of Menasha; his six daughters, Mary (Jace) Pearson of Weston, WI, Pat Dallman of Oshkosh, Kathleen Meyer of Spokane, WA, Joan Treudeau of Neenah, Barbara Roberts of New Orleans, LA, and Marjie (Victor) Vizcaya of Miami, FL; stepdaughter, Maxine (Jess) Kimball of Menasha; daughter-in-law, Vickie Schlenske of Oshkosh; sister, Betty (Frank) Smith of Bradenton, FL; twenty six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Schlenske on October 20, 1999; two brothers; a sister; and a grandchild.A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Gerald on Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Parish- St. Peters Site with Frs. James Jugenheimer and Bob Karuhn officiating. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside on Tuesday June 2, 2009 from 4-8 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service. A prayer service will be conducted at 7:30 PM on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the National Parkinsons Foundation or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.Geralds family would like to thank the staffs at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home, Theda Clark Medical Center and Theda Care At Home Hospice for the excellent care given to Gerald.
