Gerald W. McEvoy, 82, of Oshkosh, died Monday September 5, 2005 with his family at his side, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Oshkosh, on June 17, 1923 the son of Harry and Anna (Youngwirth) McEvoy. Jerry married Rose Widzinski on June 26, 1943 in Oshkosh.Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army 2nd Division during World War II, from 1944 to 1946. He worked for Milwaukee Railroad, the Oshkosh Area School System, and M&I Bank, before he retired in 1982. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; he enjoyed all sports, especially golf. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rose of Oshkosh, one son, Pat McEvoy of Oshkosh, three daughters, Sandra (William) Fierke of Owatonna, MN, Susan (Donald) Taylor of Huntsville, UT, Joni McEvoy of Kingwood, TX, and a special friend, Gayle Noll; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Anita Osmuss. A memorial mass for Jerry will be held Wednesday September 7, 2005 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1020 W 6th Ave), with Fr Thomas Reynebeau officiating. Family and friends may call at the church from 10 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital (501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105). Jerrys family would like to thank Fr. Thomas Reynebeau and the doctors and staff of Affinity Health System, and Mercy Medical Center for the care they gave Jerry.He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be sadly missed by all.
