Geraldine M. Schmidt

Geraldine “Gerry” M. Schmidt, age 95, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, in Oshkosh. She was born on June 5, 1928, in Oshkosh to the late Leo and Henrietta (Kuehn) Tauschmann. Gerry was united in marriage to Leo Schmidt at St. Mary Catholic Church on August 22, 1959.

Gerry loved to travel, especially to Las Vegas. For her 25th wedding anniversary with Leo, they traveled to Hawaii. She always enjoyed a good book, especially mystery novels. Gerry was an avid Packer and Brewer fan. She adored her time spent with her dogs throughout the years: Susie, Charlie, Autumn, and Bailey. Gerry worked for a variety of law firms as a legal secretary from the age of 18 until retirement almost 60 years later.

Gerry is survived by her sons, Timothy and James Schmidt, both of Oshkosh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Schmidt; parents, Leo and Henrietta Tauschmann; brother, Wayne (Olga) Tauschmann; and infant sister, Shirley Tauschmann.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish – St. Mary Catholic Church, 605 Merritt Avenue, Oshkosh. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
