Germaine H. McGraw, 82, of Oshkosh, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Aurora Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Oshkosh on July 28, 1924 to the late William and Elsa (Lautenschlager) Esslinger. On April 23, 1949, she married William F. McGraw in Oshkosh, who preceded her in death in 1965.Germaine, a woman of quiet dignity and strength, was affectionately known by many names – Gramma Maine, G. G., Charla, Gram, and Geege. A lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church, she also served as an organist and was a member of their Debra Circle. Germaine worked at Wisconsin Bell, Miles Kimball and Evco Plastics. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and being involved in their lives. Family get-togethers at Grandmas apartment were always special and she always made sure there was plenty of food and to everyones liking. She enjoyed going on trips with her family, especially the trips to NorthStar to play the one-arm bandit. Survivors include her sons, Richard (Dona) McGraw of Illinois, Charlies (Darcy) McGraw of Oshkosh; her daughter, Kathy (James) Meisel of Oshkosh; her sisters, June Backus, Jane Fauk, and Betty Lou (Charles) Carter of Oshkosh. Germaine is also survived by her grandchildren, Jenna, Michael, and Christa McGraw, David (Jayme) and Jonathan(Julisa) McGraw, Kelly (Nick) and Christopher Rates, Debbie and Jamie Meisel; her great grandchildren, Libby Graverson, Alyssa Rates, Lily Meisel, and Lauren Kendall, and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis.Services for Germaine will be held on Monday, February 26, 2007 at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Church Avenue, Oshkosh, at 10:00am with the Rev. Eric Quinney-Burnard officiating. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes-Westside on Sunday, February 25, 2007 from 3:00-5:00pm and again at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. Memorials will be donated to diabetes research.Germaine will be remembered for her generosity to others, always being prepared, her tenderheartedness, and for loving her family. Germaine – you will be dearly missed by your family, friends, and all those who knew you.
