Germaine Schein

August 17, 1910 — April 25, 2007

Germaine (Ziebell) Schein, age 96, joined her beloved husband John on Wednesday, April 25, 2007, after a long battle with Alzheimer s disease. She was born on August 17, 1910, in Oshkosh, the daughter of Charles and Ida Ziebell. Germaine married John Edward Schein on November 25, 1932 in Waukegan, IL. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2001.Survivors include her brother, William (Ellen) Ziebell of Oshkosh; her children, Elissa (James) Schuhart of Madison, WI and John Jack (Marge) Schein of Fond du Lac, WI; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Along with her husband John, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Ronaele Schein.She was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church having attended the German Lutheran Grade School and Confirmation there. She graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1930.Germaine and John were interested in the waterways system of the Fox and Wolf Rivers and took an active part in the early years of the Oshkosh Outboard Club and the Paddle Wheel Association. She enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband. Germaine loved to play cards with her family and friends, she loved to shop and had a special place in her heart for the many cats she had through the years. For most of her life she didnt go long without a kitty in her house.The past six years she was a resident of Ingle Living Communities in Mt. Horeb, WI, near her daughter. She enjoyed going on outings with other residents and participating in many group activities.Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Eastside with the Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Family and friends may call at the Waugoo Ave funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will be at Peace Lutheran CemeteryGermaines family would like to say a special Thank You to all of the staff at Ingle Living Communities, particularly the staff at Inglenook, who took such loving and compassionate care of her and her family, especially during her last days.We will always love and miss you Mom and Grandma!
