Gertrude Trudy WuethrichSurrounded by her loving family, Trudy was welcomed home by her Lord on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.Trudy was born on January 7, 1928 in Wild Rose, the youngest of Emil and Alma (Klawitter) Bakers six children. She attended grade school in Wild Rose and graduated from Oshkosh High School. Trudy received her teaching degree in Elementary Education from the Teaching College at University of Oshkosh in 1953, where she also did post-graduate work. Trudy started her teaching career in Kewaskum, moving on to instruct Kindergarten children at Jefferson and Merrill Schools in Oshkosh. Trudys career culminated with 25 years as a teacher at Winnebago Mental Health Institute.Trudy was united in marriage to Gilbert Wuethrich on July 16, 1960 at Martin Luther EV Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, where she remained an active member in both choir and the Ladies Guild.The lights of Trudys life were her grandchildren, Courtney and Joey. The mutual love they shared carried Trudys spirit, especially in her final hours. Simple pleasures, such as playing the piano and organ; working crossword puzzles and enjoying the company of friends and family were what Trudy truly enjoyed. Ever the picture of grace, Trudys cheerful disposition saw her through, even to the end. Trudy is survived by Gilbert, her husband of 53 years, and their children, Bonny (Dave) Marek and Stephen Wuethrich, both of Oshkosh; granddaughter Courtney Marek and grandson Joe Marek. She is further survived by her sister Ruth Loew of Beaver Dam, her brothers-in-law Kermit (Carol) Wuethrich and Richard Wuethrich; sister-in-law Vivian Baker and many nieces and nephews. Trudy was preceded in death by her parents (Emil and Alma), sisters, Irene Roeder and Ellen Baker and brothers, Harvey Baker and Kenneth Baker.A celebration of Trudys life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Martin Luther EV Lutheran Church, 1526 Algoma St, Oshkosh. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00AM. The Reverend Jeffrey Berg will officiate.Trudys family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers who were so kind and compassionate during her final days at Mercy Medical Center.I love you and you will always be in my heart.
