Gilbert F. Koelbl, age 97, passed away at Evergreen Nursing Home on December 19, 2017. He was born to the late Kilian and Laura (Fox) Koelbl on June 3, 1920 in the town of Mayse, WI. Gilbert was a pattern maker for Mercury Marine. He was an excellent woodworker and painter. Gilbert loved to travel and went to many places including Hawaii and Germany. He also loved to play cards with his friends, family and fellow residents at Evergreen Nursing Home. He was a volunteer at the senior center for over 15 years and was given an award for his services. Gilbert is survived by one brother, Edward Koelbl, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Joeseph (Donna), and Frank Koelbl; sisters, Mary Holmes, Helen Whitehead, Edith Pylon, and Dorothy Ryan.
Services for Gilbert will be held at noon on December 26, 2017 at the Konrad-Behlman Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr). Visitation will be held from 10AM until the time of service. Chaplin Jim Mallman will be officiating. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen and Generations Hospice for their kind and loving care of Gilbert.
