Gilbert L. Blaske

Gilbert LaVerne Blaske, age 95, was reunited with his wife on Sunday, July, 13, 2014 at Eastbrooke Manor, Oshkosh. He was born on April 15, 1919, in Oshkosh the son of the late William and Eugenia Blaske. Gilbert proudly served our country in WWII from 1942 until 1945 with Company A., 4th Armored Division. Gilbert was also a member of the Oshkosh Civil Defense. On August 18, 1946, he was united in marriage to LaRue Hammond at Christ Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with two children. He was a life-long member at Christ Lutheran and was an usher and a member of Lutheran Brotherhood. Gilbert was employed at the Wisconsin Axle (Rockwell Standard) for 35 years. Gilbert always enjoyed being on the go. Going out to eat and traveling. The family took numerous trips by car and in later years he took many bus trips around the country with LaRue. His joking and teasing will be missed by all.Gilbert is survived by son, Terry (Sallie) Blaske and daughter, Diane Stecker both of Oshkosh; five grandchildren: Tim Blaske of Oshkosh, Rob (Melissa) Blaske of Oshkosh, Adriane Stecker of Oshkosh, Courtney (Rich) Hall of Geneva, IL, and Collin Stecker of Lombard, IL; four great-grandchildren: Murphy and Connor Hall, Morgan Sparr, and Theodore Blaske and two brothers: Rodney (Kathy) Blaske of Moline , IL and Dale Blaske of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, LaRue on October 14, 2008.Funeral service for Gilbert will be on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 11:30 am at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Dr., Oshkosh; with Pastor Jen Czarnota officiating. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park, Oshkosh.Thanks to those at Eastbrooke Manor and Heartland Hospice who helped him through his final days.
