Glenn Ray Bartenstein

January 18, 1937 — October 19, 2017

Glenn R. Bartenstein, age 80 of Oshkosh, died on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Eden Meadows, Oshkosh. He was born in Oshkosh on January 18, 1937, the son of the late Raymond and Adeline (Koch) Bartenstein. He was united in marriage on October 14, 1961 to Virginia (Ginny) Kempinger at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh.
Glenn and his wife Ginny recently celebrated 56 years of marriage. Throughout his life, Glenn enjoyed the outdoors including hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and landscaping. His passion was dogs, having owned several golden retrievers over the years and volunteering/working at the Oshkosh Area Humane Society during his retirement. Glenn also served as a hunter safety instructor, and volunteered at Ducks Unlimited Great Outdoors Festivals. Glenn and Ginny looked forward to time at their northwoods cottage near Conover. Many hours were spent fishing with children and grandchildren, hunting and pursuing improvement projects.
Glenn was very mechanically inclined. He retired from Rockwell as a tool and cutter grinder after 32 years of service. In retirement he meticulously maintained the property surrounding their rural Oshkosh home. Glenn had a strong work ethic and high standards.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Ginny; children: Tom (Sue) of Waldo, WI, Margie (John) Pollack of Greenville, WI and Nancy (Murray) Ketteler of Blunt, SD; seven grandchildren: Ben Bartenstein of Lima, Peru, Erin Bartenstein of Madison, WI, Megan (fiancé Seth Loken) Pollack of Stevens Point, WI, Becky Pollack of LaCrosse, WI, Catie (special friend Jon Noethlich) Ketteler of Raymond, SD; Emily and Haley Ketteler of Bozeman, MT; one brother-in-law, Dick (Jewel) Kempinger, one sister-in-law, Jeri (Bob) Bezio and numerous nieces and nephews.
