Gordon Harry Sheveland

Gordon H. Sheveland, age 79 of Lake Wales, FL formerly of Oshkosh, died on June 29, 2011, the result of an airplane accident. He was born in Oshkosh on January 18, 1932 a son of Clarence and Ruth Larson Sheveland. He married Delores Conlin on November 2, 1951 in Oshkosh.Gordon retired from Rockwell International after 30 plus years of service. Shortly after his retirement Gordon and Delores moved to Florida. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Frostproof, Fl and a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Oshkosh. Gordon enjoyed many outdoor activities such as sailing, fishing, hunting, sno-mobiling, camping and flying. With his son Gordon they were in the process of building their own airplane. He was a member of the Oshkosh Yacht Club and E.A.A.Survivors include his wife, Delores, Lake Wales, FL; two sons, Charles (Ruth) Sheveland, Oshkosh; Gordon Sheveland, Redgranite; two brothers, George (Susie) Sheveland, Surprise, AZ; Richard Sheveland, Miramar Lake, FL; one sister, Bernice (John) Brown, Oshkosh; and five grandchildren, Kari (Paul) Searing, Kirsten Sheveland, Adam Sheveland, Bethany Sheveland and Chad (Elaine) Sheveland. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, LeRoy and Earl Sheveland.Funeral services will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 6:00 PM with Rev. Rick Hopkins officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 PM to the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
