Gordon L. Peppler Sr., age 89, passed away on July 22, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born to the late Jacob and Katherine (Jordan) Peppler on December 18, 1930. On September 14, 1953, Gordon married Sharon Doemel, and together they shared 65 years.
Gordon was a member of the United States Army and was served in the Korean War conflict. He was a corrections officer at Waupun Correctional Institution until his retirement. After his work day was done he was a bus driver for Edmunds Bus Service for 50 years. He was adored by the kids and if they behaved he would take the whole busload at the end of the year for an ice cream treat at A&W.
Gordon loved watching all the Wisconsin sports teams and was looking forward to the start of Major League Baseball. He loved to bake, with sugar cookies being his favorite. Taking daily walks was a big part of his day. Walking with his nephew Gary and the crew at the YMCA was what he enjoyed most. Throughout the years he also enjoyed coaching little league baseball, bowling, camping and spending time with family. One of his proudest moments was on October 21, 2015, when Gordon had the honor of participating in the Old Glory Honor Flight.
Gordon is survived by his children, Kathryn (Jim) Beck, Gordy (Deb) Peppler Jr., Lori Sanders, and Lisa Peppler; grandchildren, Jason (Jenny) Sanders, Corey (Melissa) Sanders, Jeremiah (Lindsay) Hopp, Rebekah Peppler, Garrett (Alex) Piester, Brein Stobb, Braelinn Stobb, and Jaden Peppler; eight great grandchildren with number nine on the way in August and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Sharon, infant daughters, Tina and Melinda, and siblings, Harold Peppler, Robert Peppler, Irene Leitz, Lydia Nichol and June Leinweber.
