Grace Irene Kile

July 27, 1921 — November 18, 2009

Grace I Kile, 88, of Oshkosh, died at Berlin Memorial Hospital, November 18, 2009. She was born the first of four children to Alma and Albert Milligan on July 27, 1921 in Bayfield, WI. Grace graduated from Bayfield High School in 1938, where she was the editor for her High School newspaper for three years. Grace married the love of her life, Jim Kile on October 4, 1946. Their love affair lasted 61 years until the time of Jims death in 2007. Grace and her husband owned and operated The Rainbow Grill in Washburn for 2 years. In 1948 they moved to Oshkosh where they owned and operated The Campus Caf for 12 years. Along with the restaurant business, Grace and her husband also ran a boarding house for 25 college students, all while raising 4 daughters. In later years, Grace worked at Coe Drug North for Bill and Marion Holicky, developing a bonding friendship with the Holickys that has lasted throughout her life. Grace moved to Heartland House of Wautoma in January of 2008. She received exceptional loving care from the staff and her youngest daughter, Denise who was able to visit her daily. Graces favorite color of red helps to describe her vibrant personality and zest for life. She was an extremely hard worker, who could accomplish more in a day than any other three people. Her passions were creative writing, music, dancing, entertaining, hosting Christmas Eve for her family, dressing up for Halloween, giving birthday parties for her girls, and shopping (especially sidewalk day sales). Most of all, Grace loved shoes and dressing like a lady. She had her hands in Ajax cleanser by day and in white gloves by night. She lived her life with a great sense of humor enjoyed by all who knew her. Grace was a wonderful, much loved mother and all four daughters were by her side when she passed peacefully. Survivors include four daughters, Wanda (Don) Polster, Dawn (Kim) Kile, Darlene (Ashley) Stadel, and Denise (Keith) Davis; brothers, Roger (Helen) Milligan, Ken Milligan, and Bert (Shirley) Milligan; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 6:00 PM at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) with the Rev. Stephen Polster officiating.
