Gwendolyn M. Pearson age 84 passed peacefully on to her heavenly home on Thursday October 3, 2019 surrounded by loved ones in the home of her daughter Linda Habeck.
Gwen was born in Black River Falls, WI on October 1, 1935 the last daughter of ten children born to Howell and Mabel Elizabeth Stallard Stuve. On June 7, 1958 she married Ronald Hurley in Owen, WI. They raised three children together before Ronald preceded her in death on March 22, 1967. On June 18, 1971 she married Jerry Pearson in Watertown, SD. With her young children and her second husband, Gwen farmed for a time near Buhl, MN where three more children were born into their family. Jerry preceded her in death on August 26, 1994.
Gwen had many fond memories of time spent at her uncle’s cranberry marsh as a child. She was a graduate of UW-Stout in Home Economics. In her second marriage, she worked their family farm side-by-side with her husband and children. She enjoyed quilting and reading, spending time with her family, watching her grandchildren’s sporting events and fine arts activities, and cheering on the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. She is remembered by all who knew her as a kind, generous and loving soul.
She is survived by her children Glen(Patti) Hurley, David(Julie)Hurley, Linda(David) Habeck, Candy(Sam Fong) Pearson, Holly(Jason) Selwitschka, Matthew Pearson; her grandchildren Leah(Rob) Hurley-Dachelet, Jed(Molly) Habeck, Ben Habeck, Zoe, Tess and Lily Hurley, Ellawyn and Merrick Fong, Morgan, Emily and Ryan Selwitschka; great-grandchildren Eli, Ainsley and Hank; three sisters Janet(Bob) Anderson, Mary(Carl) Harms, Virgina(Jay) Bonney and one sister-in-law Norma Stuve. She is also survived by her step-daughter with Jerry, Sheila Pearson and her children Gwen, Jerry, Tim, Edward and Anthony Hanish and their respective families.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, two husbands, brothers Frank, Gordon(Lilian), Dwight and Paul(Louise) Stuve and sisters Phyllis(Neil) Green and Dorothy(Henry) Kostlevy.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday October 7, 2019 followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church(1110 Echo Lane, Green Bay, WI). A private interment of her ashes will be held on a separate occasion for immediate family.
