Harland Mueckler

September 20, 1926 — December 1, 2024

Harland K. Mueckler, age 98, passed away at home December 1, 2024. He was born to Robert and Erna (Sennholz) Mueckler at home in Oshkosh on September 20, 1926.

He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1944 and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Pacific Area Campaign during World War IIabroad the USS Presidio as a shipping room clerk and a landing craft driver. He was honorably discharged as a Seaman First Class in June 1946. Next, he attended Oshkosh Business College, graduating with an Advanced Accounting diploma in 1948.

Harland worked for North Central Airlines as an accountant for five years. While living in Minneapolis, he missed hunting and fishing in Wisconsin and returned to Oshkosh. He was employed thirty-two years by Rockwell and retired as their Plant Accountant.

He was a life-long active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Over the years, he served his Lord in numerous capacities including church treasurer for two terms.

Harland was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish while at the cottage. He was most proud of his biggest hunting trophy, a bull elk he shot in Colorado when he was 75 years old.

He played softball as a pitcher in city leagues for many years. He also golfed and bowled most of his life in numerous leagues.

Harland married Alene Tornow Westover on November 25, 1960 at Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. He is survived by his wife, Alene; daughter, Colleen Westover (Tom) Rabe of Ocala, FL; son, John Mueckler of Glendale, CA, and Paul Mueckler, serving in the U.S. Army. He is further survived by his granddaughter, Chelsea (David) Miller of belleview, FL and grandson Nick (Katie) Rabe of Orlando, Fl.

He was preceded in death by his son Randy; parents, Robert and Era and infant brother, Donald Mueckler.

Pastor Chadwick Graham will conduct a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church (913 Nebraska St, Oshkosh) on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11 AM. Visitation will take place from 10AM until the time of service. A burial will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Grace Lutheran Building Fund would be appreciated.
