Harold E. Olsen obituaryHarold E. Olsen, 87, of Oshkosh, died on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at his home. He was born on May 22, 1921 in Marinette, MI to Charles S. and Annette Amundsen Olsen. He Married Anna Jane Eastman on September 8, 1945 in Marinette. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2006. Harold grew up Crivitz, WI. He joined the Air Force during WWII. He was a P. O. W. in Poland at Sagan Stalag Luft III and later retired as a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force Reserve.Harold Worked for the Wisconsin Public Service finally becoming an Industrial Development Consultant, until his retirement in 1983. Some of his projects include the Waupaca Foundry in Marinette, The Gardener Denver plant in Green Bay, the American Potato plant and the Ore-Ida plant both in Plover, the Fiskars plant in Wausau, and the American Motors plant in Coleman. After retirement he and Anna Jane traveled and spent winters in Florida.Harold is survived by three children, Harold T. (Rebecca) Olsen of Rice Lake, Holly (Michael) Helf of Oshkosh, and Q. D. (Mary) Olsen of Madison; grandchildren, Annette Olsen, Robin Olsen, Hans Olsen, and Brit Imray; one great grandson, Andre Kramer; three step grandchildren, Matthew Helf, Christopher Helf and Shannon Drexler and their spouses and children. Along with his wife Harold was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.Harold was a wonderful father and husband. He taught his sons to hunt and fish and they are avid sportsman still.A private memorial service will be held at some further date.Special thanks to Dr. Alzoubi and his caring staff at Aurora Medical Center and also thanks to his friends at Delta Family Restaurant who watched over him daily.
