Harold Emil Stark

Harold E. Stark, age 82 of Oshkosh died unexpectedly at Aurora Medical Center on Sunday, October 31, 2010. He was born in Green Lake on February 5, 1928, a son of Emil and Alma Retzlaff Stark. He was Baptized and Confirmed in First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon. Harold graduated from Ripon High School in June 1947. He married the love of his life, Lillian Henning on June 24, 1950 at the church. God blessed this union with three wonderful sons, Jeffrey, Thomas and David.Harold was a faithful servant to his Lord. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, served his church council as president for many years and served on various church committees over the years.Harold loved the grocery business, starting at Mick's Grocery in Ripon. In 1957. He joined Red Owl Corp. which took him to Fond du Lac, Sheboygan and finally to Oshkosh where he managed the Red Owl Store. When it closed he continued at Carlson's and Cub Foods, retiring in 1993.He was a lifelong and active member of the Boy Scouts of America, served as troop leader and received many many awards including the Silver Beaver award. He also loved sports by attending many of his grandchildren and daughters-in-law softball games, track and swimming meets. He was also an avid Packer fan. Harold also had a love of music and supported the Oshkosh Area Community Band by enjoying all their concerts.Last but not least he loved his family. With all his girls he is blessed and survived by his beloved wife Lillian; three daughters-in-law Ann Stark and Julie Stark of Oshkosh and Cheri Stark of Wisconsin Rapids; five granddaughters, Amy (Abraham) Hernandez, Chicago; Angela (Michael) Wenzel, Milwaukee; Melissa (Marc) Kudley, Ohio; Ali (Adam) Mancl, Wisconsin Rapids; Jessica Stark, Sheboygan; three grandsons, Eric, Andy Stark, Oshkosh; Joseph Stark, Wisconsin Rapids; four great grandchildren, Lilyana, Zakary and Jacob Mancl, Wisconsin Rapids; and Briana Kudley, Ohio. He is further survived by his brother, Marvin (Marilyn) Stark, Ripon; two sisters, Verna (Roger) Herreid, Texas and Marilyn (Bruce) Patrick, Waupun; his beloved Host family, Geoffrey Ko, Hong Kong and Joseph (Tracy), Gabriel and Nathan Ko, Vancouver, Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Jason Jeffrey Stark.Memorial services will be held at Emmanuel United Church of Christ (1306 Michigan St.) on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Andi Wolf officiating. Family ands friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:30 AM to the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
