In addition, to his academic career, Maggie has worked for the phone company, in home construction and, as a self-taught architect; he designed and built his dream house in 1967. When Maggie retired in 1990, he and Jean, already well-traveled, become globe-trotters. They toured Europe, the Mediterranean, the South Pacific, Mexico, and all across the United States. As a natural story teller, Maggie also began writing a series of novels about Swedish immigrants, partially based on his familys experiences.
