Harvey Hub Hielsberg passed away on June 29, 2013, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center. He was a resident of Park View Health Center for the past 6 years.He was born to Edward C. and Marie (Schmidt) Hielsberg on March 21, 1913 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Hub married Eleanor Deer in Waukegan, Illinois, on July 31, 1942. Eleanor preceded him in death on June 13, 1994. He is further preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Nikolaus of Crofton, Maryland; his sisters, Eleanor V. Nelson, Margaret M. (Larsen) Breaker, Marie R. Herber and brothers, Karlton E., Earl L. and Donald R. Hielsberg. Hub is survived by daughters, Karen (Dennis) Haley and Gail (Mel) Schettl both of Oshkosh; a son-in-law, David Nikolaus of Crofton, Maryland; grandchildren, JoNell (Andy) Amrhein of Norwood, Minnesota, Daniel (Maureen) Haley of Portland, Oregon, Anna (Jerome) Allen of Howard, Wisconsin, Sara Haley of Portland, Oregon, Jill (Robert) McCauley of Arlington, Texas and Craig (Melissa) Nikolaus of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland; great grandchildren; Ryan and Tessa McCauley, Delaney and Riley Nikolaus, Andrew Haley, Amelia Amrhein, and Asher Allen.Hub was an accomplished bowler and was blessed to be a member of Oshkoshs Legendary Keglers. He built a storied career and was a member of many league championships. He was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame in 1976. At the age of 92, he walked away from the sport he loved. When bowling was out of season, he hit the golf links hitting a hole in one at age 85. Hub started his working career at Morgans during the depression and retired there after almost 50 years.We will always remember Hub as a very modest and humble man. He sought what was good in life and remained the ultimate optimist. Savoring the good times with family and friends and forever enjoying the simple pleasures in life that many seem not to see.Services for Hub will be held at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, Tuesday July 9, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) with Rev. Stephanie Lorenz officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday 10:00 A.M. to Noon at the Westside funeral home. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in memory of Hub. We will be forever thankful for the kindness and care afforded Hub during his stay at Park View Health Center. Hub loved the staff and residents at Woodside North and considered them his second family. Hubs family would also like to extend many thanks to the staff at Theda Care Hospice for the wonderful care given to Hub in his last days.
