Helen M. Lukas

Appleton Helen M. Lukas, 97, of Appleton, passed away peacefully Friday, August 28, 2015, in Appleton.She was born December 17, 1917, in Thunder Hawk, S.D.to Frank and Mary (Bruha) Stanek. She married Charles W. Lukas on June 20, 1942 in Chicago, and he preceded her in death October 5, 1979. They moved to Oshkosh in 1947 and opened Lukas Auto Supply and ran that business together until 1976. At age 70 she went back to school and finished her high school degree. Later Helen worked at Miles Kimball where she printed Christmas cards. Each summer during EAAs AirVenture she looked forward to opening her home to guests from around the country. Survivors include her children, Chuck (Cathy) Lukas, Arlene (Jim) Eichstadt, both of Appleton; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Tracy) Schwartz, Kevin (Megan) Lukas, Kristin (Bill) Broman, Kelly (Dave) Lemmers, Kurt (Andrea); and great grandchildren Matthew, Lauren, Thomas, Kelsey, Nickolas and Lincoln, and one brother, Theodore Stanek. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers and sisters, Mildred Wilson, Robert Stanek, Martha Stanek, Marcella Stanek, Frank Stanek, Sylvester Stanek, Cyril Stanek, Richard Stanek, Agnes Anderson, Wencil Stanek, and August Stanek.A funeral service will be held at 11am. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Lake View Memorial Park, 2786 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, WI. Interment will follow in the cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30a.m. until the time of the service in the mausoleum chapel. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.A special Thank You to the staff at Carolina Manor for their years of care, to the staff at Rennes Health and Rehab Center for their special care and to the staff at Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice Services for their advice and care. You are all very special people.
