Helen M. (Holappa) Christman went to be with her Lord on March 24, 2010 after suffering a stroke. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Helen was born January 7, 1922 in Michigan to Esko and Blanche (Finnula) Holappa. She graduated from National Mine High School with 11 friends. She married Donald Christman on September 5, 1942. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Nancy (Brad) Green of Oshkosh, WI, Don (Marcia) Jr. of Roan Mountain, TN, Glenn of Oshkosh, and Tom (Renee) of Sheboygan. Helen loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed her church family, serving as president of the United Methodist Women 3 times, and was active in the Emmaus Walk program. Her primary hobby was creative needle work, she was very talented! Other pastimes were playing cards, traveling and lunching with Red Hat friends. She is survived by her husband, 4 children, and 11 grandchildren: Holly King, Kim (Viencen) Hitechow, Shawn (Amanda) Christman, Dane (Nikki) Christman, Heather (John) Quarnstrom, Samantha, Glenn Jr, Curtiss, & Megan Christman, Tom Jr, and Courtney Christman, and 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.She is further survived by sister, Ruth (Buzz) Phillips of Washington, Brother-in-Law, Al (Virginia) Christman of Nevada, Sister-in-law, Chris Buchheit of California and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents.A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Kaehr officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
