Herbert Edward Doemel, Jr, age 85, of Oshkosh, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 12th at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh.
He was born September 10, 1939 to Herbert Sr and Edna (Covill) Doemel in Oshkosh. He graduated from Oshkosh High School and also served in the US Army National Guard, seeing active duty during the Bay of Pigs incident, April, 1961. He was trained as an Army Medic and was an x-ray technician for a while at Mercy Medical Center before switching careers and working for 33 years with Rockwell Automation, mostly as a machinist.
He married June Faust on June 2, 1962 in Oshkosh and they had two children, Brenda and Jeffrey. He is survived by daughter Brenda (Mike) Braun, two grandchildren (Zachary and Lindsay Feil) and his sister (Joan Neustiffer), several nieces and nephews and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert, Sr and Edna, his beloved June, his son Jeffrey, a brother, (Jerry Doemel) and two sisters (Betty Kanitz and Sharon Peppler).
He loved Jesus, his Wyldewood Baptist Church family, helping out at Bearing Precious Seed ministry as well as watching his Milwaukee Brewers, Bucks and Green Bay Packers. Some of the activities he enjoyed included going on garden walks with Brenda, going to the cottage up north, watching sunrises and bird watching. He had been an avid golfer, bowler, jogger and snowmobile enthusiast during his earlier days. He and June even raised Shih Tzus for a few years.
Funeral services will be held at Wyldewood Baptist Church, 3030 Witzel Ave, Oshkosh, WI 54904 on Friday, April 18th. 10am for visitation, 11am for the service and a lunch will follow. Internment will be at Lake View Memorial Park.
A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society for donations. The family deeply wishes to thank the staff of Aurora Hospital and Aurora Hospice for their care and support during this difficult time.
