Hildegarde Irion

Hildegarde Irion, 97, of Oshkosh, died on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at her residence. Hildegarde was born in Schleswig, Iowa on October 15, 1911 the daughter of Rev. William and Mary Bischel Wetzeler.At the age of twelve, she moved with her parents to Appleton, Wisconsin where she graduated from Appleton High School and the Lawrence College Conservatory of Music. On October 1, 1936 she married Theodore H. Irion in Oshkosh. She was a long time member of St Pauls United Church of Christ in Oshkosh where she was a member of the Womens Guild, serving as president for 32many terms. Always active in music, she sang in the church choir for many years. She was also active on the district and state levels of the United Church of Christ, serving on boards and committees. She was a member of Chapter BA of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.She is survived by her husband, Ted; one son, John (Tammy) of Stockbridge, GA; nieces and nephews, Lois Roghair of Hartley IA, Pauline Bonapfel of Marietta, GA, Ruth Stover of Hospers, IA, Carolyn (David) Bode of Cincinnati, OH, Barbara (John) Keenan of Naperville, IL, Mary Ellen Olson of Sioux City, IA, Charles (Elsie) Wetzel of Spirit Lake, IA.Hildegarde was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.The funeral service will be on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 2:00 PM at St. Pauls United Church of Christ (1250 Leonard Point Rd) with the Rev. Brian Tokoph officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church from 1:00 PM to the time of service on Monday and Sunday at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) from Noon to 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Hildegardes family wishes to especially thank the devoted caregivers from Caring Connections for the home care these last eight years. They include Vicky, Donna, Patty, Linda. Sally, Roxy, Janet, and Jim Wheeler. Also they would like to thank Aurora Hospice.
