Howard Darold Dodge

Howard Darold Howie Dodge, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at his home on July 10, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was 84. Howie was born on September 28, 1931 and was a lifelong resident of Oshkosh. He was very proud to dedicate his life to serving his country and community. He served In the United States Navy first as a reservist and then as an active-duty sailor aboard the USS LSM(R)-514 during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he returned home and joined the Oshkosh Fire Department. He remained with the fire department until retirement, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. In addition to his government duties, Howie was very active in the Otter Street Fishing Club where he was a past president, long-time member of the Board of Directors and Lifetime Member. He was also an Honoree Member of the Lake Shore Club. During retirement, Howie enjoyed traveling to Central and South America as well as Florida, where he spent winters with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Carol, his sons Paul (Debbie), Peter, Patrick, Robert (Kristin) Baumgartner, Matt (Stacy), daughter-in-law Barbara Nitz, as well as by grandchildren Stephanie, Sarah (Thomas) Helmuth, Joshua (Jessica), Claire, Wylie, and Lucas. He had two great grandchildren, Palmer and Bristol Helmuth. Howie was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Agnes Dodge, his brothers Russell, Donald, and Edward Dodge and his sister Dorothy Bunker. Services for Howie will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Eastside) at 6:00 PM on July 15, 2016. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park at a later date.
