On January 18, 2012, Our Lord and Savior called Howard N. Coombs (77) home where Howard will enjoy the company of friends and family who are already there, especially his daughter Kim. Howard was born in Oshkosh, WI on September 20, 1934, the son of the late Wilbur and Rose (Pollak) Coombs. On October 8, 1955 he married the love of his life, Nancy Christensen, in Oshkosh. Howard dealt with adversity like all things in his life, with a positive attitude and a strong will to live.He and his brother-in-law, James Decker, ran the Spudnut Shop on Church Ave. After one year he went on the road selling a vise and hand drill throughout the United States and Canada. He was often heard saying there isnt a dot on the map that he hadnt been to. He was an avid sportsman. He was a running back in high school, wrestled, enjoyed playing baseball and boxing in his younger years. Later in life, he enjoyed playing handball, jogging (having logged over 20,000 miles) hunting, fishing, playing pool and golf. He enjoyed running in many races. He was active in the Red Welt Handball Club and played in many tournaments. He also enjoyed playing the ukulele and singing. Howard enjoyed spending time at the YMCA and at The Cottage with his family and friends.Howard is loved and will be missed by his wife, Nancy of Oshkosh; one daughter, Joby (Michael) Wolfgram of Oshkosh; one son, Rick (Lauri) Coombs of Oshkosh; a special son-in-law, James Kucksdorf of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Frank of Oshkosh; Lindsay (Matthew) Anacker of West Allis; Justin Coombs of Oshkosh; Courtney (Ian) Allard of Oshkosh and Joseph Coombs of Oshkosh; great grandchildren, Noelle, Logan, and Braydan Frank and Arianna Coombs all of Oshkosh; sisters, Beverly Decker of Oshkosh; Sally (Wayne) Wesner of Oshkosh; Linda Lou Coombs-Weise of Arlington, TX; nieces, Sherry (Sam) Tenbrink of Oshkosh; Stacey (Greg) Williams of Greenville, WI, Lysa (edward) Camis of Aurora, IL, and Connie (Matt) Springborn of Oshkosh; nephews, Gregory (Nancy) Decker of Oshkosh; Scott (Annie) Decker of Oshkosh; Corey (Tifani) Wesner of Oshkosh, and Robert (Christine) Christensen of Oshkosh. He is also survived by a brother-in-law Orville (Sandra) Christensen of Oshkosh and many other family and friends. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Rose Coombs; sister, Lorraine Coombs; brother-in-law, James Decker; daughter, Kim Kucksdorf and nephew Jeffrey Wesner.Howard fought a good fight and finished the race. While we are saddened by his death, we know there is joy and more laughter in heaven.Visitation will be held at Countryside Christian Church (1483 Burr Oak Rd. - off HWY 44, Oshkosh) on Saturday, January 21st, 2012 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm with funeral services to follow, Pastor Gregory Decker will be officiating. A memorial fund will be established.The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Mercy Medical Centers ICU and all family and friends that have showed us so much love and support.Not a day in my life will go by without thinking of you, missing you and saying I love you. Knowing you are now with our daughter, Kim, at peace and pain free is a comfort to me.Dad you will be missed. I love you and cherish many wonderful memories we have shared together.Grandpa, memories of you will last a lifetime. You will be remembered as the joker, always having a practical joke to play or something planned that was sure to scare someone. You were always a motivator, your positive outlook and attitude were sure to brighten anyones day. WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!!!
