Ione R. Sharratt, 88, of Oshkosh, made her transition to her new life Wednesday, August 29, 2012, at Evergreen-Creekview. She was born January 16, 1924 in Pickett the daughter of Robert and Verna Jones. Ione grew up in the Oshkosh area and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1942. She met Robert D. Sharratt in a young peoples group at Algoma Boulevard Methodist Church. Robert and Ione were married on September 26, 1942. Together, they farmed in the town of Oshkosh until the early 1960s. Ione was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She was a talented homemaker, seamstress, cook, gardener, often preserving what she grew and harvested. She was an avid reader, who instilled this love of reading in her children. She shared memorable trips with her husband and had fun times with her family and friends at their cottage. She retired from the Food Service Department of the Oshkosh Public Schools. She was a member of the Algoma Boulevard Methodist Church for over seventy years, serving on the church board and singing in the choir for many years. She also volunteered at the EAA and Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah for 25 years. Ione will be greatly missed by her husband, Robert; children, Carolee (Dale) Heinen, Richard (Nancy) Sharratt, and Dr. Jack Sharratt; grandchildren, Wade (Chris) Heinen, Chad (Peg) Heinen, Derek (Lisa) Sharratt, Jeff (Katie) Sharratt, Tereasa (Chris) Gassel, and Emily (Dave Eades) Sharratt; great-grandchildren, Drake, Dylan, Claire, Brynn, Hannah, Sienna, Andrew, and Grant; and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert Jones and Bradley Jones; and a daughter-in-law, Jane Shuman Sharratt. A memorial service for Ione will be held Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church (1174 Algoma Blvd.), Rev. Barry Yarbro officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in memory of Ione to Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church. Iones family would like to thank the caring staff at Evergreen and Rev. Barry Yarbro for their care and help.
