Irene E. Garbe

Irene E. Garbe, age 74 of Oshkosh, passed away at Bethel Home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. She was born on November 9, 1946 to the late Edward Drebus and Jeanette Hurst. She married Richard Garbe on July 9, 1977 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ and was blessed with two sons.

Irene was a lifelong member of Emmanuel UCC. She loved the outdoors, spending time in the garden, and watching the hummingbirds. She was an excellent crocheter- donating over 50 afghans to church and Mercy Medical Center. She loved her little dog, Reggie, baking, cooking, word searches and puzzles, and decorating!

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Richard Garbe; sons, Ray (Penney) and Peter Garbe; grandson, Jonathan VanHeeswyk; brother, Eugene (Linda) Drebus; stepbrother, James (Bonnie) Michels; stepsisters, Patty (Jeff) Miller and Mary Ford; stepsister-in-law, Jeannie Michels; sister-in-law, Carol Herdina. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Edward and Elizabeth Drebus, mother and stepfather, Jeanette and Vic Miller; stepbrother, Ron Michels; and stepsister, Kathy Michels; father-and-mother-in-law, Victor and Josephine Garbe; brother-in-law, Greg Herdina.

A private graveside service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
