Irene K. Christensen, 69, of Omro passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer, but is now in her eternal home in the arms of her Lord and Savior. She was born November 5, 1943 in Bottineau, ND a daughter of the late Fred and Annette (Lehman) Getzlaff. Irene married Harry Christensen on February 4, 1967 in Oshkosh. She was a member of Wyldewood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Irene worked for many years at SNC Manufacturing. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, sewing, gardening and took special joy in being with all her family, especially all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren whether it was having a meal at Perkins, sharing ice cream at Shepards or bringing her famous potato salad to family functions. Irene is survived and will be sadly missed by her husband, Harry of Omro; three daughters, Beverly Searvogel of Oshkosh, Michelle (Leo) Schmude of Rush Lake, and Renee (Kip) Ziemer of Omro; two sons, Jeffrey (Renee) Christensen and Harry Jr. (Lori) Christensen both of Princeton; two sisters, Margaret Kornkven and Ilene (John) McDougal; a brother, Kenneth Getzlaff; grandchildren include Mandi, Ashley, Breanna, Aimee, Caleb, Natalie, Victoria, Hunter, Miranda, Gabriel, Michael, Samuel, Lilly, Charity, Daniel, Tabetha and Sawyer; and six great-grandchildren, Avian, Kyler, Ethan, Hailey, Dominic, Aubree, along with nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua. Irene's family would like to extend a special thank you to Mercy Medical Center, Affinity Hospice, Dr. Klinkhammer, Dr. Foley and Dr. Reinhardy for their compassionate care of our mother, wife and grandmother, who was the love of our lives. A funeral service for Irene will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Wyldewood Baptist Church, Rev. Randall King officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside from 4:00 7:00 p.m. and at the church Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Alto Reformed Church Cemetery.
