Irvin Henriksen, age 87, passed away on Sunday July 28, 2019. He was born on April 13, 1932 to Irvin and Irma Henriksen in Arkdale, WI. He grew up in Omro working for his dad’s trucking firm. He quit school and went in the Army when he was 17. He was shipped to Korea on September 20, 1950 and fought in a Tank Battalion. He drove the tank on the battlefield. When he got out of Korea he went to Fort Riley Kansas until his discharge.
He married Marie Reinke and they had 3 daughters, Gail , Patty, and Melanie. They later divorced. He and Josephine Golomb were married on May 20, 1967. They had one daughter, Amy Renee.
He worked at Morgan Door from 1951 through 1973. Then he went to work for Mercury Marine for 22 years. In 1996 he and his wife moved to Butte des Morts, WI. He became restless and re-entered the workforce, working a couple of years at different jobs and then went to Axle & Co. for 3 years and then on to Oshkosh truck for another 9 years. Then he finally retired for good. Irv enjoyed hunting and fishing until his health prevented him forced to stop. He was a member of the American Legion Post 364 and a member of the Lions Club in Butte des Morts.
He is survived by his wife Josephine, 3 daughters, Gail (Tom) Mandli, Patty (Norman) Marine, and Melanie (Mike) Molash; 5 grandchildren, Matt (Sarah) Castor, Adam (Teri) Cole, Scott Marine, Todd Marine and Staci (Travis) Derr; and 5 great grandchildren. He also is survived by 2 brothers, Orville and Gordon; and 2 sisters, Agnes Weingarten, and Jackie Weber.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Irv and Irma, 2 sisters. Evelyn Kroken, and Yvonne Schmid, and his daughter Amy Henriksen.
A memorial service for Irvin will take place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday August 10, 2019 at 11 am with Rev. Greg Koepsell officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 am until the time of service. Inurnment will be held at Lake View Memorial Park where full military honors will be held.
A memorial for Irvin has been established. The family would like to thank Ascension Hospice and all the caregivers and also a special thank you to Kiera Heisler.
