Irwin Art Tesch

Irwin A Tesch, “Irv” “Pops” age 90 made his journey home, surrounded with the love of his family on October 10, 2017 at Bella Vista CBRF. Irv was born March 4, 1927 to the late Albert and Elsie (Harder) Tesch and was a lifelong resident of Oshkosh.
Irv served his country as a United States Marine, from 1945 to 1949. When he returned home, he was united in marriage to Althea Lemke on October 29, 1949, at Saint Paul’s United Church of Christ. Together, they shared 48 years. She preceded him in death December 13, 1997.
He was retired from the United States Post Office, but through his lifetime worked many jobs, Including, building the family home, where he and his wife would raise their three children Prudence, Darwin and Dustin and foster many others.
Irv was a lifelong member of St Paul’s church. He taught Sunday school, co-sponsored the youth fellowship, and sang in the choir for as long as we can remember. He was also a member of the American Legion Cook-Fuller Post 70, and the Marine Corps League Winnebago Detachment where he served as Commandant and Chaplain and also represented the league on the Oshkosh Patriotic Council serving as president for two terms. He had helped with bingo for many years on Fridays and Sundays at the league as well. He also enjoyed dancing, singing, traveling, bus trips to the casino, wood working, collecting treasures, and watching the Packers, but most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.
Irv will be greatly missed!! Survivors include: his daughter Prudence Unmuth of Oshkosh, son Dustin (Becky Emory) Tesch of Sneads Ferry NC. daughters-in-law, Debbie Tesch and Kathy Tesch of Oshkosh, grandchildren; Brooke (Dan) Wojtalewicz of Rosholt WI, Chad (Sarah) Unmuth Oshkosh. April Ann Tesch Oshkosh. Meranda (Logan Scheel) Tesch of Menomonie WI. Great grandchildren Everett Unmuth Coleman Unmuth, and Zander McCulland Tesch. Brother Terry (Kathie) Miller of Oshkosh, Sister-in-law Alice Lemke of Pipe WI, brother-in-law John (Sandra) Lemke of De Pere WI, brother-in-law David Schneider of Colorado Springs, CO as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and great friends. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his son, Darwin Tesch, granddaughter Amy Unmuth, son-in-law George Unmuth, brothers Herbie Tesch, Clarence Tesch, Richard Miller, sisters, Catherine Lemke, Edna Schneider, sister-in-law Marlene Krueger brothers-in law Duke Lemke, Rex Lemke, Bill Krueger and dear friend Jean Fuller.
Funeral services for Irv will be held Thursday October 19, 2017 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1250 Leonard Point Rd Oshkosh WI at 2:00 PM with the Rev. RaeAnn Beebe officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday morning at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Burial with full military honors will be at Lake View Memorial Park following the service on. A memorial has been established.
The family would like to thank his caregivers and staff at Bella Vista CBRF and the Nurses and CNA’s of Heartland Hospice.
