Jack M. Petersen, age 97 of Oshkosh, passed away at Aurora Hospital, Oshkosh on Saturday, August 14, 2021. He was born on August 3, 1924 to the late Melvin and Esther (Doemel) Petersen. Jack married Beverly Breaker on June 29, 1946 and they were blessed with two daughters Barbara and Jodi.
Jack served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946 as a Radioman 2nd Class with SACO, an organization that served behind enemy lines in mainland China. He cherished the camaraderie between himself and his brothers in arms and attended many of the yearly reunions.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling, and playing cards with good friends and family.
Jack is lovingly survived by his daughters Barbara (John) Jones, and Jodi (Mark Durick) Petersen, grandchildren Christopher S. Roy and Beth Shaw, great-grandchildren Nathaniel Roy and Alex Koppa, his brother Lawrence (Carol) Petersen and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceeded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly, brother Billy and his wife Florence Petersen, brother-in-law Donald "Duke" Breaker and his wife Audrey, great-grandson Joseph Albee, and his good friend Richard Rutan.
A funeral service for Jack will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 20, 2021 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 1250 Leonard Point Rd. with Rev. Michael Bober officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Lake View Memorial Park.
