Jacqueline H. Schultz

Jacqueline H. Schultz, age 90, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2010 at Affinity Medical Center after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Oshkosh on October 9, 1920, the daughter of Josephine (Geiger) and Arthur Luedtke and married Milton J. Schultz on June 12, 1941 who died on July 2, 1999 after 58 years of marriage to Jackie.She was a life-long and devoted member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church of Oshkosh and she generously gave of her time and energies to her congregation over the course of more than 7 decades including many years teaching Sunday school whereby she influenced the spiritual growth of countless children as well as being a faithful participant in a number of church organizations including the Globalites, Altar Guild and the St. Johns quilters outreach group. She worked outside the home at the W.T. Grant, Aldens and Montgomery Ward stores in Oshkosh before retiring. Jackie loved spending time with her family (whose achievements she took great pride in) and maintained an active and independent lifestyle in her own home until the reoccurrence of the cancer which took her from us less than two months after she had happily celebrated her 90th birthday. Jackie is survived by her son David (Mary) of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Christopher of Glendale and Lindsay of Oshkosh; brother Donald(Barbara) Luedtke and brother-in-law Donald (Dorothy) Melhorn of Oshkosh; loving and attentive nieces Gail (Robert) Breu of Omro, Paula (Steven) Schmidt of Oshkosh, Pamela (Richard) Billington of Winneconne and nephew John (Aggie) Melhorn of Omro as well as great-nieces and nephews and her aunt, Ethel Penzenstadler and cousins Sandy and Richard.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Gloria Melhorn, nephew Donald Luedtke, sister-in-law Viola Schultz, mother-in-law Hattie Schultz and step-father Gale McAuley. Jackie faithfully remembered her loved ones who had passed on before her by always making sure that their graves were marked with flowers and now she has joined them in the hereafter. She was a kind a generous person who was always ready to help others and although we now cry for ourselves at her leaving us -- we rejoice in the life she led and know that she is in a better place.A memorial service for our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 808 North Main Street, Oshkosh, Wisconsin with the Rev. Jennifer Czarnota officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the service. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the St. Johns quilters group would be most appreciated. A private interment will take place on December 13th at Lake View Memorial Park.The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the kind and compassionate care givers at Affinity Medical Center for making their loved ones last days as comfortable and dignified as possible under the circumstances. She has gone from the pain and worry, hurt and doubt at the end of her life and into the treasured places of our hearts where she will spend forever. Jackie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
