On July 17, 2015 a tender heart stopped beating. James Robert Schneider, age 71, of Oshkosh passed away at Tomah VA Medical Center with family by his side. He endured a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Jim was born in Oshkosh on July 3, 1944 the son of the late Frank and Lucille (Johnson) Schneider. Jim graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1963. He served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967. He married Marsha Warner on September 4, 1965 in a little white Army Chapel at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Jim was employed by the United States Postal Service for 35 years. He was a member of Saint Jude Parish and St. Raphael Church. He was a quiet man who loved his family deeply.He enjoyed duck hunting on Rush Lake and pheasant hunting at Pheasant City. He was talented at taxidermy. His favorite music was sung by Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. At Christmas time, his joy was to bring joy to grandchildren, nieces, and nephews by putting on a Santa Clause suit and handing out presents on Christmas Day.His loving memory will be cherished forever by his wife, Marsha Schneider; and his five children, son Casey (Julie) Schneider, Appleton; son Paul (fiance Julie Gelhar) Schneider, Grand Chute; daughter Carla (Derek Stoinski) Dillman, Oshkosh; son Aaron Schneider, Oshkosh; and son Damon Schneider, Cudahy. His three granddaughters: Madalyn Schneider, Elizabeth Dillman, and Abigail Dillman. He is further survived by his brother Charles (Pam) Schneider and his sister Lois Menzel, both of Oshkosh. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gary Schneider and his sister Eunice Schneider.A memorial mass for Jim will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24 at St. Jude Catholic Parish (St. Vincent Site) on the corner of South Park Ave. and Oregon St. with Fr. Bill Van DeKreeke officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the mass. A memorial is being established in James name for Day by Day warming shelter in Oshkosh.The family extends sincere gratitude for all the caring staff at the Tomah VA Medical Center.A special thanks to Mark, Danuta, Kay, Ida, and Father Ivan Torres for their friendship to Jim and I.Be at peace Jim, you are loved and will be greatly missed.
