James W. Powell Jr

James W Powell Jr., age 74 passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at his home. He was born to the late James and Theresa (Boyd) Powell on January 8, 1948 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. He graduated from West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, attended LaSalle University, and joined the United States Navy where he served for 20 years as a corpsman during Vietnam, a physical and occupational therapy technician, and worked at the naval hospital in Oceanside California. He married Elizabeth Kempfer on February 7, 1976 and upon retiring from the navy, the couple moved to Elizabeth's home state Wisconsin where Jim was employed as a counselor at Oconomowoc Developmental Training Center and Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services. 

 Jim was an avid sports fan, always ready to cheer on his Philadelphia teams and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge, not just of sports, but music, history, and anything else you could throw at him. He was active in community theater all throughout his life, having recently performed with Penguin Productions and the Watertown Players. 

 Jim is survived by his wife Elizabeth, daughter Rachel, surrogate daughter Mandi (Nathan) Webb, surrogate grandchildren Patrick and Sarah Webb; siblings Ann Marie, Joan, Matthew, Terry, and Amy.  

 He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sarah, brother Robert Powell, and sister Patricia Powell.Per Jim's wishes, a cremation will take place. 

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions towards the funeral expenses.
