James Ziarnik

James Ziarnik, 72, of Oshkosh, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at his home.Jim was born the son of Edwin and Hazel (Kucksdorf) Ziarnik on December 19, 1940 in Manitowoc, WI. He was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School, and a 1965 UW-Oshkosh graduate, also completing his Masters Degree in Counseling in 1976. Jim married Beth Belongea on October 9, 1965, in Oshkosh. He was employed for 36 years as a juvenile intake and case worker by Winnebago County Social Services, retiring in 2003. Jim was an avid hunter, Packer and Brewer fan, and played baseball for the UW-O Titans and the Oshkosh Giants as well as other ball teams in Oshkosh and Manitowoc. He gave generously of his time and talents to many, including the International Children's Fund of Neenah.He is survived by his wife, Beth; his sons Rick J. (Michelle Klug) of Oshkosh and Bret J. (Lisa) of Neenah; his mother, Hazel M. Ziarnik of Manitowoc; sister, Sandra (Roger) Tangeman of Naperville IL; brother, Larry, of Green Bay; five grandchildren, Kyra (Mike Sanchez) Ziarnik of Oshkosh, Dominic Helm, and Tyler, Isaiah and Connor Ziarnik of Neenah, and great-grandchild, Samara Sanchez of Oshkosh, as well as many other dear relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin; sister, Diana, and sister-in-law, Bridget.A funeral service will be held on January 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Community Church, 3250 West Ninth Avenue in Oshkosh with Rev. Gayland Hendrickson officiating. Family and friends may visit at the Konrad-Behlman West Funeral Home on Friday, January 25 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.In lieu of flowers, memorials are being established in Jims name by his family.
