Janet M. Koerwitz, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, departed peacefully on January 26, 2025, at the age of 90. She arrived on Earth on January 24, 1935, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Janet embraced life with a spirit that inspired those around her.
She married her true love, Walter Koerwitz, on October 26, 1957, in Neenah, WI, and together they built a warm and nurturing home that resonated with love and laughter. Janet was an active member of Martin Luther Church in Oshkosh, where she played handbells for many years, sharing her musical talents with her church family.
Janet was not just a devoted homemaker; she had a passion for flying. As a licensed pilot, she owned her own Cessna 172 and was a proud member of the 99s, an organization dedicated to women aviators. Her adventurous spirit fueled her love for travel, always seeking out new destinations and experiences.
But above all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of love and joy through her children: Scott Koerwitz, Cathy McGee, David Koerwitz, Colleen Wilde, John Koerwitz, and Chris Koerwitz. Her grandchildren-Andrew, Pat, Kevin, Matthew, William, Travis, Jeffrey, Katelyn, Tony, Anna, Christopher, Jackie, Taylor, and Sean-and great-grandchildren Myla and Amiya will forever remember her spirit, warmth, and playful nature.
Janet is survived by her sister, Ahnna Hornig, sister-in-law Marilyn Koerwitz, and her dear friend, Sandy Greenman. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, sister Sue Tabor, brother-in-law, Daniel Koerwitz, sister-in-law, Elaine Koerwitz, and her cherished friend, Elise Seidler.
