Janice Elizabeth (VanCamp) Ross, 68, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on July 20, 1956, in Wichita, Kansas, Janice lived a life defined by love, generosity, and caring for her family. She was a cherished wife to Gerald Ross and a proud mother to Katherine (Kelly) McBrair, Samantha (Bradley) Olson, Kyle (Tanya) Merritt, and Erin (Jacob) Dewilde.
Jan's greatest joy came from being a grandmother, where she was a dependable source of love, laughter, and cookies for her grandchildren: Ethan, Remington, Silas, Coraline, Adaline, Riker, and Sawyer. Her family circle also included her beloved "grand-raccoon" Alice, who held a special place in her heart.
She taught her children that being kind was more important than being wealthy, and she demonstrated that value throughout her life. Her home was open to anyone who needed a meal or a safe place to hang out. It shouldn't be a surprise then, that Christmas was one of her favorite holidays. No matter the circumstances-even if her Christmas tree was a four-foot tall weed-she had a way of making the season special and made sure that everyone felt included.
Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Lynn VanCamp and Alma (Herrman) VanCamp, as well as her brother, Mark VanCamp. In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, she is survived by her sisters, Patrice (VanCamp) Schreiber, Kristin (VanCamp) Lienhart, and Kari VanCamp, her brother Colin VanCamp, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service and mass will be held at All Saints Catholic Parish of Berlin, WI, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Janice's family would also like to send a heartfelt thankyou to the staff at Evergreen and Aurora for their compassionate care and support.
