Janis Lynn Koch

Janis Lynn Koch of Oshkosh, age 48, died peacefully July 13th after a long struggle with cancer. Jan was born on July 20, 1967 in Park Ridge, IL. Janiss family was at her side and will miss her until they are reunited in a better place. She is survived by her Mom, Susan; stepfather (Dr. Richard) Harris; brothers, Seth (Erin) Murphy, Shawn Murphy, and Colin Case and step daughters Alison Harris of San Francisco, and Ashley Harris of Madison, WI. Janis has 2 uncles, Pastor Ron (Rita) Geikow of Avila Beach, CA and Steven Geikow of Wheeling, IL. She has nephews, Lucas and Liam and niece, Lila Murphy.Janis was born with mental disabilities, but with love and support from her mother, Sue Harris, her brothers, and her maternal grandparents, Walter and Gladys Geikow, Janis was able to learn and grow as an independent loving soul in her own way.The family appreciates the assistance Janis received from Clarity Care and Parkview Health Center. The family thanks all whom helped, especially Bonnie Young and Nan Minaker and Christine Jury, all of the nurses and CNAs who were Jans best friends on Lakeside 2, and social worker, Jim Decker. A huge thank you to Dr. Gremminger and Dr. Davis and Dr. Sakrison. A special thanks to cousin Jane Wallman for bringing Janis diet cokes during radiation. Janis developed her own interests, well truthfully obsessions. Among them were 1990s hair bands, Stevie Rachelle, Betty Boop a savant memory of birthdates and anniversaries and perhaps most importantly, the Miss Oshkosh and Miss Wisconsin pageants.A few years ago Janis was diagnosed with cancer. The outlook was dim from the start but Janis bravely accepted many difficult treatments with the help of a little bribery from her mother, Sue.Janis will be dearly missed. An open visitation is scheduled for Sunday afternoon July 17th from 3 to 5 PM. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. (corner of Witzel & Lake Pointe Dr), Oshkosh.Peace to all
