Jeanette Marguerite Sebald Jenkins

Jeanette Jenkins, age 97, died on May 12, 2015, in Redgranite, WI after being in Hospice Care since May 6, 2015. She is survived by a son, Mack (Jean) of Pelham, AL; twin daughters, Susan Selcke (George) of Minnetonka, MN, and Sarah of Juneau, AK; granddaughters, Patricia Selcke Grad (Ben) of New York, NY, Gretchen Selcke Zimmerman (Phil) of Nashville, TN; and 3 great-grandchildren. Jeanette was born in Manawa, WI, the daughter of the late William W. and Rella G., ne Floyd, Sebald on Oct. 24, 1917. She shared her younger years with a brother, the late Bill Sebald of Indianapolis, IN. There will be no funeral or memorial ceremonies. At Jeanette's request, her body has been donated to the Anatomical Gift Association of IL, Give the Gift of Life to Others, Teaching the Next Generation of Doctors. Jeanette began college at Lawrence Univ., Appleton, WI (class of 1939) and graduated from the Univ. of WI at LaCrosse (class of 1939), with a degree in Physical Education. She began teaching at Oshkosh High School where she met another teacher, Harry M. Jenkins (1912-2003). They married November 21, 1942, in Seattle, WA, while Harry was an officer in the U.S. Navy. During the years when her husband was with the 7th Fleet and in the South Pacific, Jeanette taught Junior High and High School Physical Education, especially swimming, in Janesville, WI and Bessemer, MI. After WWII ended, Harry and Jeanette lived outside Milwaukee, WI, then moved to IL, as Harry began his business career in industrial plastics with GATX based out of Chicago. They lived on Bristol Lane in Arlington Heights from 1954 until 2011. In 2011, Jeanette moved to WI. She was a colon cancer survivor from 1954 until the present. Jeanette was a member of Delta Gamma national sorority, book club, bridge club, and Village Theater, in IL and the Crystal Lake Club in Marquette County, WI. During her life, she taught many young people how to swim and, with Harry, was a world traveler. Even with all of the Wonders of the World that she had seen in her lifetime, Jeanette thought that the fields of Texas bluebonnets, blooming in the spring, were her favorite and most beautiful.
