Jerome Merril Lautenschlager

Jerome M. Lautenschlager, 89, of Oshkosh died Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Park View Health Center with his loving family by his side. He was born September 28, 1927, in Oshkosh a son of the late Henry and Anna Lautenschlager. He married the love of his life Marilyn R. Ahrens almost 68 years ago to the date on October 23, 1948, in Oshkosh.Jerome was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church and had worked at Mercury Marine for many years. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion Cook-Fuller Post. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting, bingo, and especially spending time with his kids and grandkids. He was a member of the church choir and loved singing songs from a young age until he was 81 years old.Jerome is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn of Oshkosh; six children, Patti (Tony) Ceelen, Craig (Cheryl) , Kerry (Jan), Jay (Sherry), Jill (Jeffrey) Doro, and David (Susan) all of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Tina, Courtney, Brandi, Jayme, Josh, Patrick, Kaylee, Taylor, Chance, Christian, Matthew, Meghan, and Jacob; great-grandchildren, David, Brandon, Kendyl, Rylan, Lucie, Braydon, Arlo, and Brynleigh; a great-great-grandchild, Arwyn; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and longtime friends, Heinz and Traute Gabriel. He was preceded in death by sisters, Rose Horton and Lorraine Langlitz and a brother, Henry Wimp Lautenschlager.A funeral service for Jerome will be held Friday, October 21, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church (400 N. Sawyer St.), Rev. Jeffrey Knoll officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial is being established to Zion Lutheran Church and to the church choir.Jeromes family would like to thank the staff at Park View Health Center for all the love and care that was provided for him.
