Jess W. Johnson, of Oshkosh, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the age of 74. He was born in Iola, Wisconsin, the son of Jesse and Helen (née Shiek) Johnson. From the time Jess enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War as a Naval Corpsman, he spent his life caring for others. Upon his return he eventually worked as a nurse and later became a Physicians Assistant. Some of the work he was most proud of was his time working in Addiction Medicine, helping people overcome their addictions. He later returned to Family Medicine working in clinics serving rural communities in Wisconsin until his retirement.
Jess is survived by his wife, Pat, of 42 years; his sons, Jay (Valerie) Johnson, Scott (Mary) Hocking; his daughters Kristin (Dave) Kaczmarek, Laurie Zdanczewicz; and grandchildren, Zak, Chaz, Trevor, Brian, Ashley, Sarah, Alina, and Logan. Jess is further survived by his sisters, Sandy Ebert, Annette Johnson, Joanna (Tom) Wachtler, and other relatives and friends. Jess is preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Helen.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 from 3:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow, taking place at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home, 100 Lake Pointe Drive, Oshkosh WI 54904.
