Joan A. Hough

Joan A. (Koch) Garthwaite, Hough, passed away quietly in her sleep on November 6, 2016. She was born on December 1, 1929 in Oshkosh to the late Carl and Ester (Gretzmacher) Koch. She was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member at Peace Lutheran Church (1943). She was married to Edward C. Garthwaite on June 3, 1950. They were married 26 years. She then married Joseph Ray T. Hough in March 1982. Joan was a fulltime housewife and mother; she went back to school in 1977 for her Assoc. Degree in Mechanical Design. She worked for Allis Chalmers App. and medalist in Oshkosh.She is survived by five children: Michael Garthwaite of Neenah, John (Susan) Garthwaite of Sussex, WI, Steven Garthwaite of Kenosha, WI, Thomas Garthwaite of Oshkosh, and Barbara Tyler of Oshkosh; two grandchildren: Katie (Adam) Comens of Suzzex and Emilee Garthwaite of Oshkosh.A prayer service for Joan will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- (Westside).Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Peace Lutheran Church (240 W 9th Ave.) in Joans name.The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff and residence at Glynn Park, Bethel Home, and the Sojourners Ministry for all the love and care they gave to Joan.
