Joan B. Mailahn, 75, Oshkosh, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Park View Health Center, where she called her home for the past several years. Joan was born to John and Doris (Hughes) Mailahn on October 3, 1942. She attended and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1961. Joan enjoyed fishing with her grandpa when she was a youngster, talking his ear off and laughing, I’m sure. That carried forward into her later years when she loved socializing with everyone she came in contact with, whether fellow residents of Park View or strangers. Joan enjoyed eating out at the Roxy and cheering for the Brewers and Packers. She was also a lover of Schnauzers. Joan was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.
Joan will be missed by her three cousins: Jane (Michael) Steinke, Fond du Lac, Gordon Hughes Jr. and Donna Helms, both of Chicago; second cousins: Amy Steinke and Rachel Enfelt; members of her Park View family, both residents and staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; aunts, uncles, and a special cousin, Tom Bittner.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Park View Health Center, 725 Butler Avenue, Oshkosh. Joan has been laid to rest by her parents in Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
Joan’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to the entire staff of Park View Heath Center, especially where Joan lived, Parkside I, for their kindness and compassion throughout the years.
