Joanne D. Schroeder, age 89 of Oshkosh, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. She was born on February 3, 1932 to the late Floyd and Dorothy (Hill) Diedrich.
Joanne was born and raised in Ripon. She created everlasting memories participating in Girl Scouts, and cheerleading at Ripon High School. As a young lady, she worked the concession stand at Marcus Theater in Ripon with her high school sweetheart, and theater usher, Ralph Schroeder. Joanne and Ralph eventually married. They were blessed with three children.
Joanne worked various jobs throughout life. She worked as a soda jerk, a hostess, a flower designer at Hrnak’s and later she proudly served as a foster grandparent. “Grandma Jo” as the kids called her, worked in local schools and at Winnebago Mental Health Institute.
Joanne was a woman who was always on the move. She enjoyed going for walks and dancing (especially square dancing), watercolor painting, reading and eating popcorn. Joanne loved her family, but most of all, loved her Lord! She shared this love with her family.
Joanne is lovingly survived by her children, Barb (Bruce) Bohn and Jean (Larry) Davis; grandchildren, Cori (Adam) Patrick, Mikaela (Luke) Hatfield, Jay (Teresa) Davis, and Dana (Fiancé Reid) Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Gideon Patrick, Breck Patrick, Kieran Patrick, Traeger Hatfield, Melia Patrick, and Ataly Hatfield.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Schroeder; son, Peter Schroeder; granddaughter, Elissa Davis; brother, Don Diedrich.
A graveside service for immediate family at Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021.
Thank you to the staff of Oakwood Manor for the loving care, friendship, and memories provided to Jo and her family over the last seven years! Thank you also to Heartland Hospice for making Jo’s final days as comfortable as possible.
