Joanne Louise Selenka (Siewert)

Joanne L. Selenka (Siewert), 83, of Oshkosh, died on Friday, March 15, 2013 at Aurora Medical Center. Joanne was born on March 6, 1930 in Oshkosh a daughter of the late Earl and Alice (Phillipson) Siewert. She married Dennis Selenka (the love of her life) on August 19, 1950. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2008.Joanne was baptized and confirmed at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oshkosh where she was a member of the Junior and Senior choirs along with a lot of soloing, She loved her church and was a member of the Ladies Guild, she enjoyed playing cards and games and her life was filled with family, music and laughter.Survivors include her son, Todd Selenka; her daughter, Kathy (David) Slaughter; her sister, Arleen Handrich; six grandchildren, Nikki, Mandy, April, Orion, Geoff and Brad; five great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brent, Malaki, Samara and Ryan. Along with her husband Dennis, Joanne was also preceded in death by a son, Scott in 1965.Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church (1526 Algoma Blvd Oshkosh) with Rev. Jeffrey Berg and Nathan Ericson officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church in Joannes name would be appreciated.Joannes family would like to extend a special thank you to Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran church and Rev Jeffrey Berg.
