Joel James Samida

Joel J. Samida, age 51, passed away at home with his family by his side after a long, brave fight with cancer. He was born on January 1, 1964 in Oshkosh to Ralph and Joyce (Korkos) Samida.Joel was the 1st New Years baby in Oshkosh in 1964. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, listening to music especially AC/DC, doing scratch offs, and going to the Oneida Casino. He also loved watching the Brewers. Joel is survived by his sister, Julie Mayer; nieces and nephews, Franki, Jimmy, Isabella, and Randall Mayer, Sarah (Mike) Hayes, Autumn Samida, and Brett Resop; friend, Dave Hildebrandt; brother in law, James Mayer; and many cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Samida; and friend Lee Rothlesberger.A funeral service will be held for Joel at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at First Congregational Church (137 Algoma Blvd.) with Rev. Carol DiBiasio officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite charity in honor of Joel.
