Johanna H. Raddatz, age 74, of Oshkosh, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. Johanna was born on March 12, 1947 to the late Harold and Ruth (Gabrilska) Raddatz in Oshkosh. She was baptized and confirmed at New Bethel Church. She attended Black Wolf School, which was a one room schoolhouse for grades 1-8, and graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1965. Growing up on the family’s dairy farm, Johanna acquired a love of animals and the country life. As a young girl, Johanna was gifted with a lamb named Snooper, which led to her raising a flock of sheep and being very active in 4-H; something she was very proud of!
While raising her three children, Johanna worked for the United States Postal Service, Milk Testing Lab, and Oshkosh B’Gosh. She enjoyed living out her Christian values by serving others and her community, such as Treasurer for Bethany UCC and Cerebral Palsy. As her children got older, she moved her family to the Abbotsford area where she owned a dairy farm for the next 30 years. After retirement from the farm life, she carried out her lifelong dream of seeing Alaska. Johanna’s hobbies included bowling, fishing, needlepoint, cribbage, reading, Sudoku, and jigsaw puzzles. Johanna treasured time spent with family from holiday gatherings to attending her grandsons’ school events.
Johanna is lovingly survived by her children, David Nicholson, Dawn Nicholson, and Jennifer (Jim) Galow; grandsons, Tyler and Joshua Galow; sisters, Louise Versteegh and Rachel (Brian) Burgoon; nephews, Kirk (Kathie Sina) Versteegh, Gary (Kathy) Versteegh, Bart (Lynette Duggan) Versteegh, and Garrett Burgoon; and niece, Janine Muza. She is further survived by many great nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Johanna was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Antonius Versteegh, and her great-nephew, Michael Versteegh.
A funeral service for Johanna will be held at 12:00 pm on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside, 100 Lake Pointe Dr. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at Hilltop Cemetery in Saxeville, WI.
